Lightfoot and Wolfville Ancienne Chardonnay 2021

Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia, CanadaIt's been a while since I've tasted NS superstars (and lovely people) Lightfoot and Wolfville, so thrilled to see they've joined the Sur Lie portfolio in BC. Ancienne is their top chardonnay, from their certified organic / biodynamic Home Farm Vineyard in Wolfville, and a blend of 3 Dijon clones. This was whole cluster pressed, and native fermented with full MLF in mostly neutral French barriques (25% new), where it rested for 20 months prior to bottling. Quite creamy and polished up front, with a riveting underlay of buzzy stones that light up the palate and tighten up the whole. Ripe green apple, perfumed lemon, French cream, fresh hazelnuts roll across the leesy palate, finishing on that lingering salinity noted above. Quite singular, and worth seeking out.Tasted: 17 May 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
