Henry of Pelham The School House Cabernet Merlot 2023
Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, CanadaThis blend of cabernet(s?) and merlot comes off the Short Hills Bench estate's silty clays. It was destemmed and partially fermented in oak with extended maceration before aging in European and American oak (30% new) over 10 months. Perfumed black cherry, dark raspberry is threaded with branchy herbs and dark cocoa along a streamlined palate. Tannins are fine and lightly sticky, guiding this to a cinnamon kissed finish.
