Champagne A. Levasseur Rue du Sorbier Brut Nature NV
Vallée de la Marne, Champagne, FranceDavid Levasseur runs this micro-grower Champagne house founded by his grandfather in the 1940s. Producing just 30,000 bottles a year, he works solely from his 4 hectares of organic vineyards spread across 18 plots in Cuchéry, Fleury-la-Rivière, and Châtillon-sur-Marne. From base year 2020, this cuvée (named for the road where the family domaine is located) blends 80% meunier, 15% pinot noir, and 5% chardonnay from 30ish year old vines planted at the clay-soiled Les Gautelleries plot in Cuchery, Vallée de la Marne. This core was aided by 35% reserve wines, and it spend arounds 3 years on lees before a zero disgorge. The reserve wines give some honeyed apricot notes to this weightier wine, supported by orchard fruits, brioche, and candied grapefruit pith that highlights an expansive palate. Drinking now, ideally with foodstuffs.Tasted: 06 May 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices: Producer: Champagne A. LevasseurBlend: Meunier - Pinot Noir - Chardonnay
