Celler Familia Nin-Ortiz Planetes Clàssic 2022
Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainFounded in 2000 by married duo Ester Nin (winemaker) and Carlos Ortiz, the winery is based in Porrera, the Priorat village closest to the sea. The current population there is 500 + 4 mules. 100 years ago, Porrera has 2,000 people with 500 mules, so the area has been neglected for some time. They farm all their vineyards, here and in Penedès biodynamically. This blend of 60% grenache, 10% grenache pelluda, and 30% carignan (latter with stems) comes from a mix of llicorella, roca pigallada, and ferral soils, averaging 30% slopes. This was native fermented and with 4 weeks maceration in French foudres, where it remains for 17 months. Dusky, stony plum, wild blackberry is firmly gripped by the profound soils, lending structure and tension to the tannins.
