Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainFounded in 2000 by married duo Ester Nin (winemaker) and Carlos Ortiz, the winery is based in Porrera, the Priorat village closest to the sea. The current population there is 500 + 4 mules. 100 years ago, Porrera has 2,000 people with 500 mules, so the area has been neglected for some time. They farm all their vineyards, here and in Penedès biodynamically. This carignan blanc, a mutation found at their site, is off 26 year old vines grown on licorella soils at 330m. It macerated for 2 days before fermentation in 70% barrel / 30% concrete egg. Creamy and lees-led, with white peach, perfumed pear, and fine spice rolling along the stony palate, structured via the mica / quartz / slate soils.
