Priorato, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainThis garnacha negra was planted 79 years ago at 350m on Porrera, Priorat's poor llicorella soils. It was whole cluster, and native fermented over 4 weeks, then aged 17 months in 2x600L barrels. Super scrubby and herbal, coursing with wild blackberry, thorns, anise, perfumed dusky violets across an uncompromising palate. Tannins are schistous and firm, while acidity is lofted, finishing with ample ferrous firmness. Most definitely a wine of place.
