Vietti Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco 2021

Langhe, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyThis Langhe Nebbiolo is sourced from declassified cru sites and aged for less than the minimum requirements. Therefore, it does not qualify for the Barolo DOCG. All the better for us who get a delicious cru nebbiolo from 40ish year old vines at an affordable price. Far more structural and unyielding than the last time I tasted it (reflective of vintage?), this has firm, grippy, ferrous-lashed tannins framing black cherry, dark raspberry, and crushed florals, threaded with broken stones and medicinal cherry. Acidity is easily lofted, and the finish sticks with espresso and salinity. Certainly tastes of a youthful Barolo, so give this some airtime and try with grilled steaks or lamb ragu.Tasted: 21 April 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
