Exhibiting a Bellini pink hue, this elegant, saline rosé embodies the distinct character of Tantalus, featuring wild strawberry, raspberry, and subtle savoury undertones that dissolve into a lingering minerality. The grapes were gently whole bunch pressed and transported overnight under temperature control to the Tantalus winery. The free run juice was fermented dry in stainless steel, while the harder pressings underwent fermentation in seasoned pinot noir barriques to dryness, enhancing texture. Ribbon Ridge, Willamette Valley, Oregon, United StatesThe pinot noir fruit was source from the Looney Vineyard in Ribbon Ridge AVA Oregon from a parcel that the winemaker David Paterson had worked in earlier in his career. The grapes were whole bunch pressed and the juice fermented in a combination of stainless steel and older Pinot Noir barriques and then rested on the fermentation lees for 3 months. This begins with elegant notes of roses, cranberry, pin cherry, as well as delicate sweet spice. The palate is a gossamer version of pinot noir showing lightly textured soprano red fruits, held in a masterful balance as subtle as Champagne. Ribbon Ridge, Willamette Valley, Oregon, United StatesThis 2024 Rosé names the vineyard on the front label, and is Tantalus' series of Crafted in BC (CIBC) wines from the 2024 vintage. Here pinot noir was sourced from Looney Vineyard in Oregon's Ribbon Ridge AVA, a site winemaker David Paterson worked on many years ago as an itinerant intern. The fruit was whole bunch pressed and transported cool overnight to their East Kelowna winery. Free run juice was fermented in stainless, with harder press spending time in older pinot noir barriques for texture. They remained there through fermentation and a 3 months' additional rest on lees. Pouring a glowing peach hue, this slender, saline pink charms with wild strawberry, raspberry blossoms, and subtle savoury stoniness woven throughout the palate, echoing long with lingering salinity.
