Santa Rita Floresta Chardonnay 2022

Valle del Limari, ChileLimarí opens onto the very cold Pacific and has long been a secret source of blending chardonnay for many southern Chile versions, but I like the full on Limarí take best. Grown over a mix of alluvial clay loams with stones and calcium carbonate, it's wild fermented in stainless steel and aged around eight months in 25% new French oak, getting regular bâtonnage. The ’22 is softer than the previous version, a delightful surprise for many, but a change that might upset a few who prefer the more electric version of this grape. The creamy palate is marked by sweet limes, pineapple, and hazelnuts, with a mix of honey and sea salt in the finish. This Modern Next World chardonnay is a true gem, a perfect match for BC served with Dungeness crab.Tasted: 15 April 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
