E. Pira and Figli de Chiara Boschis Barolo Cannubi 2020
Barolo, Cuneo, Piedmont, ItalyOne of 3 Barolo released by Chiara this year, with vinification and aging, is kept the same across the three to highlight the differences of the terroir. From the famed Cannubi vineyard, this 0.7-hectare plot sits at 300m and faces S/SW. After a native ferment in stainless, with frequent pumping over and punch downs, all of the Baroli were aged in lightly toasted 30% new French oak for 24 months and one year further in the bottle before release. Deep, dark, and fleshy, this is woven with thorny blackberry, stony minerality, and plush dark plum coursing through the savoury, structural palate. Tannins are firm and fine, guiding this through a lingering stony, bitter espresso, and orange rind finish. Still very much in youth, this has the acidity and structure to age for a couple of decades in your cellar.Tasted: 02 April 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:ON | $223.00 | 750ml | consignment |
