Calchaqui Valley, Salta, North, ArgentinaAmalaya is a magical place perched 1800+ metres above sea level in Salta, Argentina. It is famous for its stony, mineral Malbec, but when it's hot, its blend of 85% Torrontés and 15% Riesling is equally sought after. This aromatic white opens with Torrontés notes of orange blossom, jasmine, lemon balm, and green apple, before the Riesling adds structure, minerality and bright acidity to dry out the finish. Now under $20, it offers real value, and is a perfect wine for warm summer nights and West Coast seafood.Tasted: 21 April 2026Tasted by: Prices:

Calchaqui Valley, Salta, North, ArgentinaSeeing riesling in a blend – with torrontes, no less – gives the impression of a simple white blend. Well, don't judge a wine by its blend. This shows pure torrontes aromatics – orange blossom and bright lemon balm citrus – with the crisp acidity provided by riesling. Sometimes riesling can overwhelm a blend, but this is still very much torrontes at its core. (And most wineries would just label it as such at 85 percent.) Another winner from the Amalaya label, which continues to deliver excellent value.Tasted: 17 April 2025Tasted by: Prices:
