In the early 1990s, António Canto Moniz decided to dedicate himself to serious winegrowing, using his family's historic presses and lagares.Today, the estate is overseen by António’s son, Henrique. The Tinto blends 40% Touriga Nacional, 20% Alfrocheiro, 20% Tinta Roriz, 20% Jaen, from granite rooted vines 20-40 years old, at 440m. Ripe plum, fragrant cassis, thorny blackberry floods the juicy palate, seasoned with scrubby rockrose, and framed with finely structured, sticky tannins. Acidity is lofted, and the finish lingers with crushed purple florals and a fine stony buzz.
