DNA analysis has revealed that zinfandel is genetically identical to the Croatian grape varieties Crljenak Kaštelanski and Pribidrag, which have been grown for centuries. It is an alluring, easy sipping style, with juicy, bright, grapey fruit with nearly zero tannins. It's a pinot noir version of zinfandel.
