Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaDonovan Rall is a giant of a winemaker, literally (he's SO tall) and figuratively. From Swartland's schist soils, this syrah was picked early, native fermented fully whole cluster, and rested solely in concrete. Stony plum, wild raspberry, purple florals, roiboos tea, and thorns are layered across the slender, medium-bodied palate, framed with long, finely knit and finely grippy tannins, and lofted with an easy acidity.
