Champagne, FranceThe house of Champagne Devaux was founded in 1846 by brothers Jules and Auguste Devaux, based in the Côte des Bar. This is 70% pinot noir, 30% chardonnay, primarily from Montgueux, with smaller amounts from Vitry, Côte des Blancs. Though the base wines were fermented in stainless, this used 25% reserve wines, stored in oak. After around 3 years sur lattes, this was dosed with 9 g/L. Bread dough and cherry brioche lead the cushy palate, with red apple and nougat, tightened with lemon pith and peel, which spirals through the finish. A smart, friendly option, best partnered with food.Tasted: 25 March 2026Tasted by: Prices:

Doughy and expansive, with red apple, lemon, and smoked toast rolling across the creamy palate, tightened with a lemony brace which lingers on the snappy finish. A fuller style, well handled.Tasted: 22 March 2025Tasted by: Prices:
