Suertes del Marqués Trenzado 2023

Tenerife, Canary Islands, SpainFrom Tenerife's volcanic soils, this is entirely Listán Blanco, with a mix of 10-150 year old native grapes Marmajuelo, Guao, Vijariego Blanco, Verdelo, Torrontés and Baboso Blanco sourced across various vineyards 300-700m in the Valle de La Orotava, and predominantly grown in the traditional cordón trenzado training system. After native ferment in a mix of concrete and older French casks, this aged 10 months on lees in foudres and older 500L barrels. Unlike older vintages of Trenzado, this doesn't have the same massive reduction upon opening (thankfully). Instead, it's an alluring flicker, followed quickly by green fig, quince, and lemon pith over a bed of river stones. The finish lingers long with flake salts. This is the most impressive Trenzado I've tasted.Tasted: 25 February 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
