Rocca di Frassinello Ornello Maremma Toscana Rosso 2021

Maremma, Tuscany, ItalyOrnello is the people’s wine in the Frassinello lineup. It has an inviting, savoury, fruity nose streaked with dried herbs and fresh and cooked black fruit. The palate is equally flavoured with tobacco and balsamic, with a ribbon of spice. The tannins are rich but primarily soft, and like most Italian reds, they finish with that trademark earthy dryness that tends to balance any overt fruit. A warming Europe is delivering Maremma reds at or near 14.5% alcohol, and along with some syrah, this gives it a rustic power with some finesse. The blend is 40% sangiovese, 20% cabernet sauvignon, 20% merlot, and 20% syrah, all aged in a mix of new and old French oak for six months. Best with pastry wrapped beef bites in the late afternoon, or on the dinner table with wild boar.Tasted: 07 February 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
