Martin's Lane Simes Vineyard Single Block Collection Transcendence Pinot Noir 2022

South Kelowna Slopes, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaTranscendence is an exclusive single block wine sourced from a specific vineyard, incorporating a blend of clones 667, 777, 114, and 115. The wine initiates with subtle reduction, revealing meaty notes that quickly dissipate. The 2022 vintage marks its debut. What distinguishes Transcendence from the single vineyard Simes is its doubled planting density. Despite maintaining the same row spacing, the vines are planted only 75cm apart, resulting in smaller vines that enhance colour extraction and concentration. A brief carbonic maceration helps to balance the colour and the tannins. The tannins are abundant yet fine and chewy, reminiscent of the most robust Burgundies. The challenge lies in maintaining the dark reds within the red fruit spectrum, such as black cherry, akin to Fritzi's wines. This wine is designed for aging in the cellar. Note that single block wines are exclusively available to club members, with limited availability at select restaurants.Tasted: 18 February 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
