Martin's Lane Fritzi’s Vineyard Missing Ear Pinot Noir 2022

West Kelowna, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaWinemaker Shane Munn's biggest challenge is to manage the yields at the vigorous Fritzi's site. Rich in dark, brooding cherry fruit, it's a pinot noir with gravitas and one to ponder. Munn says, "It is always the best wine of any vintage if you wait." Fermentation occurs in concrete with 75% whole clusters over a month before aging around a year and a half in 50% new Austrian oak barrels, which you won't notice. Fritzi's vineyard is named after the owner, Anthony von Mandl's, mother and is planted exclusively to clone 115. It is located at the base of Mt. Boucherie in West Kelowna, over a former conical volcano created 60 million years ago. The vines face southeast, 417 metres above Okanagan Lake. The vineyard receives morning sun and is shielded from the warm afternoon and evening sun on the east side of the valley. Of the ten years of this wine's history, it was the first picked nine times. It is not structurally huge, but it has immense persistence.Tasted: 19 February 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
