Mendoza, ArgentinaThis Mendoza malbec, with its playful cartoony label, pours deep ruby with a hint of garnet. The slightly evolved nose reveals potpourri, macerated dark cherries, and a touch of dates. A hint of vanillin and damp tobacco from three months in 50% French oak, along with a black pepper spice, add layers to the fruit.
