La Soeur Cadette Bourgogne Blanc 2023

Mâconnais, Burgundy, FranceValentin Montenay is based in western Bourgogne’s Vézelay, where he is caretaker of his parents’ 22ha of organically farmed vineyards. In 2016, Valentin began a négociant business, creating the La Soeur Cadette range. All the wines are native ferment, with full MLF, no chaptalization, fermentation in stainless, light filtration at bottling, and minimal sulphur throughout. In the winery, he works with the lunar calendar. The Bourgogne Blanc comes from 25 year old vines in limestone laced northern Mâconnais, and includes a splash (2%) of the rarely seen Chardonnay Musqué. After a native ferment, this spent 7 months in stainless prior to bottling. Bright lemon, yellow apple is slicked with fine lees, and layered with some stony spice. A friendly, smart BB ready for drinking now.Tasted: 28 February 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
