Giusti Recantina 2019

Veneto, ItalyRecantina is a native vine of Montello and Colli Asolani grown in clay soils rich in iron. It was much loved by Venetian nobles towards the end of the 1800s before phylloxera wiped it out. It was recently rediscovered and brought back into production in limited amounts. The recantina grape has bloody, red plum aromas, bright acidity, and a refreshing red and cassis palate, streaked with earthy herbs. The finish is soft with a mineral, bright acid finish. A seemingly natural wine uncluttered by overt winemaking. The winery recommends pairing duck breast, roasted guinea fowl, or medium-aged cheese. It is said that the recantina wines "represent the maximum expression of the territory." At Giusti, it has been called Augusto as a tribute to Mr. Giusti's father.Tasted: 18 February 2025Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
