Frasca Freisa d'Asti 2021
Piedmont, ItalyNestled among the hills of Nizza Monferrato, Frasca consists of 22 hectares of vineyards. If you're not familiar with the freisa grape, here is an excellent introduction to the rustic kin of noble nebbiolo. Vines averaging 20 years come from the Moasca area. This was fermented with 30% whole bunch and gentle maceration / infusion (no punch downs) before 4 months rest in large older oak. Juicy mulberry, wild blackberry, thorns, and dark florals pull through the fleshy palate of this darker shaded wine, framed with chewy, slightly sticky tannins through a stony, black tea finish. Would be best with a hearty ragu to meet the toothsome tannins.Tasted: 28 February 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $45.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
