Château d'Armajan des Ormes Sauternes 2020

Sauternes, Graves, Bordeaux, FranceOne of the oldest and most historic estates of the Sauternes region, the property located in the commune of Preignac was ennobled in 1565, by Charles IX in gratitude for a visit with his mother Catherine de Medici to this place. Jacques and Guillaume Perromat, 6th generation of winegrowers, now run the family estate. This is primarily sémillon, with smaller parts sauvignon blanc and muscadelle, selected for their prized botrytized (Noble Rot) bunches. This rests two years in barrel prior to release. Caramel apple, honeyed ripe pear, crème brûlée are woven through the heady palate, with the sweetness tempered by steady streaming acidity, finishing with a cool stoniness and lingering honeysuckle. One to have on hand to partner with tart tatin or stone fruit desserts.Tasted: 24 February 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
