Bermejos Listan Negro Maceración Carbonica 2021

Canary Islands, SpainLos Bermejos is headed by pioneering winemaker Ignacio Valdera. Lanzarote is the farthest east of the seven main islands of the Canaries, closest to Africa, and is the driest and hottest of the group, as it lacks the mountainous terrain that dominates the others. As such, the winds are intense, and vines need to be planted in small 2m deep hoyos, or holes, in order to survive. This is organically farmed Listán Negro, native to the islands, and untouched by phylloxera. It is carbonically macerated in stainless before resting 5 months in French barrels, leaving tannins softly supple, and the sunripened darker purple and blue fruit (plum, blueberry) plumped and at the fore. A marine freshness carries this medium red through a pink peppercorn dusting on the finish. Drinking now.Tasted: 22 February 2025Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
