Code Wines Single Clone Block 1 Syrah 2022

Okanagan Falls, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaThis new-ish Okanagan winery is the vision of Shay and Harlee Code, the farmers and owners of this organic 5 acre Okanagan Falls east bench estate. They began planting in 2017 with chardonnay and syrah. This 2022 Syrah is from a single unknown clone planted in 2017 on the western edge of their estate vineyard. Destemmed fruit was cold soaked as whole berries before inoculation and maceration, after which the wine was pressed into French barrels to finish fermentation and rest for 8 months. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Wild black plum, dark cherry is seasoned with espresso and toasted hickory / cedar notes, running across a finely textured, silken palate. Tannins are fine and well integrated, guiding this to a lightly warming finish. This medium bodied, earthy style would be well suited to grilled mushrooms and / or ribs. 69 cases released.Tasted: 17 December 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
