Champagne Collet Brut Rosé NV
Champagne, FranceCollet Brut Rosé is a mix of 20 Crus from the Premiers and Grands Crus of Champagne. The mix is 50% pinot noir, 40% chardonnay, and 10% pinot meunier, aged up to 48 months, with 20% reserve wines. Look for a bright pink/orange colour that opens with an intense floral nose morphing into tangerine and red fruit, flecked with flint and mineral. Soft, round, and creamy on the entry, the tiny bubbles enhance its inviting raspberries, peach, and cassis flavours, with a hint of baking spice on the palate. Supple, silky, and surprisingly elegant, this is fun to sip. You can serve this as an aperitif, but it has the flavour structure to be on the dinner table served with lobster or chicken. Collet was among the first cooperatives to open after World War I, founded in Aÿ by 20 growers, including a Collet family member, Raoul Collet. Today, the 850 member co-op is a well regarded purveyor of bubbles, albeit a tiny one at only one million bottles annually in a sea of 300 million bottles across the AOC. The best Grand Cru and Premier Cru rated grapes go into the Collet labels. The average age of the vines is 25 years. They are planted to a density of 8000 vines/ha, yielding 66 hl/ha.Tasted: 05 December 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:CDN | $99.00 | 750ml | select private retailers; select monopolies |
