Champagne Collet Brut Art Deco Premier Cru NV
Champagne, FranceBrut Art Deco Premier Cru is a hand selected assembly of fruit from seven Grands Crus and thirteen Premiers Crus in a 40/40/10 ratio of chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier that spends a minimum of 48 months in the bottle at Collet’s ancient limestone cellars. It has a bright appearance with a persistent mousse of highly refined tiny bubbles and attractive white flower and citrus peel. On the palate, quince, apple and pear stream through a subtle smoke and saline finish. So delicious and good value, too. Veal carpaccio is a winery suggestion, and I think it would be at home with a roasted wild bird. Collet was among the first cooperatives to open after World War I, founded in Aÿ by 20 growers, including a Collet family member, Raoul Collet. Today, the 850 member co-op is a well regarded purveyor of bubbles, albeit a tiny one at only one million bottles annually in a sea of 300 million bottles across the AOC. The best Grand Cru and Premier Cru rated grapes go into the Collet labels. The average age of the vines is 25 years. They are planted to a density of 8000 vines/ha, yielding 66 hl/ha.Tasted: 05 December 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:AB | $76.00 | 750ml | select private retailers |
