California, United StatesProyecto Terruño is how Terravista Vineyards folks are naming their CIBC (Crafted in BC wines) following the devastating 2024 vintage. For this, Terravista went all the way to Grand Island Vineyards in Clarksburg, California. This albariño was whole custer pressed on site, then transported to their Okanagan winery, where it was fermented in a mix of 60% stainless, 40% concrete and spent 1 month in charmat tanks before bottling with 8.6 g/L RS. Bright and fresh with orchard blossoms, peach fuzz, lemonade, with fine bubbles to a snappy grapefruit pith finish. The racy acid gobbles up the RS, leaving a brunch friendly wine for enjoying now.Tasted: 01 July 2025Tasted by: Prices:

California, United StatesOne of many wines that will appear in BC this year and in the years to come is Proyecto Terruño, made by Naramata-based Terravista Vineyards, using fruit from outside Canada, in this case, California. Terravista worked with albariño from Grand Island Vineyard in Clarksburg, California, picked and pressed on August 12, trucked to Terravista to be fermented in a mix of concrete and stainless steel, and processed using the Charmat method. The secret to its success is four weeks on lees, adding more gravitas and a pleasing, creamy texture. Look for a refreshing, perfumed nose reminiscent of pear, mandarin, and kiwi. Crisp and just off-dry, it is a delicious expression of sparkling albariño and one I have never seen in California. This can be served on a warm patio, or you could serve it aperitif style with prepared tapas or bites before dinner. It's impressive but not cheap. The back label reads: Made in Canada from imported ingredients, following CFIA regulations: "If Made in Canada is printed on the label, the claim must be qualified to indicate that it is manufactured in Canada from imported ingredients or a combination of imported and domestic ingredients."Tasted: 28 November 2024Tasted by: Prices:

California, United StatesThis marks one of the first, if not the first, BC winery releases to be sourced from American fruit (as opposed to bulk wine), in this case from Grand Island Vineyard in Clarksburg, California. The fruit was picked and pressed on August 12, before being transported to Terravista for fermentation in a combination of concrete and stainless steel. Made in the charmat method, with an additional four weeks on lees, this is surprisingly soft and creamy, with a combination of perfumed orchard blossoms, pear, tangerine, and green apricot. Nicely balanced in a crisp, off-dry, aperitif style, but with more depth and complexity than you'll often find in the category. Well priced and well made.Tasted: 28 November 2024Tasted by: Prices:
