Siduri Chardonnay 2023

Sonoma County, California, United StatesCougar Ridge Vineyard is the primary source of this Sonoma County Chardonnay from a wild Alexander Mountain site, bringing a wide range of soils, elevations, and aspects at 650 feet above the valley floor. Its many geological variables give this wine some instant complexity, topped off by a cooler year with a rare late harvest that ran until Halloween. A dash of the floral orange blossom aromatic 809 clones from Matanzas Creek Vineyard in Bennett Valley helps lift this, offering juicy fruit and what they call “old-world finesse and minerality.” The palate is a refreshing mix of Meyer lemon tempered by baked apple pie and crust in the finish. I like its food friendly styling. This spends 10 months in 20% new French oak, a mix of used oak, and 5% remains in stainless steel tanks. The UCD 809 clone is part of a rich mix of clones 667, 777, Upper Barn, Old Wente, and Dijon clones 76 and 96.Tasted: 28 November 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
