Marche, ItalyThis verdicchio is an uncomplicated white from gently pressed fruit, handled softly throughout fermentation. Look for a light straw colour with green reflections. On the nose, it pitches some classic grassy green fruit and hawthorn sprayed with citrus and touched by almonds at the finish. This is a delightful Marche white that was made for West Coast seafood. Fresh and youthful, it is a solid pasta wine, and clams or mussels are the best shellfish to combine with spaghetti and verdicchio. The Sartarelli family is committed to the historical preservation of Verdicchio in Castelli di Jesi as they move to elevate the grape’s reputation, and it’s been going on for over four decades.
