Changing blends and techniques has yielded a small group of interesting offerings that keep consumers' attention from year to year. In 2022, Parts Unknown is a 60/20/15/5 mix of barbera, cabernet franc, syrah, and viognier, and it delivers. The barbera controls the palate, bringing freshness and earthy notes to the forefront. The franc and the syrah flesh out the palate while viognier has set the medium-dark colour. The style is dry and somewhat acidic (Italian), which requires a rich fatty protein to smooth it out.
