Western Cape, South AfricaDonovan Rall is a giant of a winemaker, literally (he's SO tall) and figuratively, as shown with this stunning White. His flagship wine, this comes from vineyards in Swartland and Stellenbosch, and is based on chenin blanc, with 28% verdelho and 2% viognier. All parts are native fermented and aged separately in older wood, save for 1 concrete egg in the mix. Striking clarity, with layered crystalline lemon, pear, and green apple coursing along a stony base, flecked with alluring reduction, and finishing long on the palate with a trail of salinity.
