Pazo Barrantes Gran Vino Albariño 2020

Val do Salnés, Rías Baixas, Galicia, SpainFrom the Salnés Valley, the heart of Rías Baixas, this ambitious albariño showcases the region’s serious side. It opens with fragrant florals from both the variety and 7 months of aging in 15% acacia wood barrels, complemented by orange peel, nectarine, subtle toasted nuts, spices, and savoury herbs like thyme and tarragon. On the palate, lees add a creamy mid-palate and a lingering finish, while a pithy note provides textural depth. At 13.5%, it’s a fuller, more structured albariño, but maintains its precision and focus. Four years in, the concentrated fruit, brisk acidity, and tight structure ensure it has plenty of aging potential.Tasted: 03 November 2024Tasted by: Prices:
