Rías Baixas, Galicia, SpainThis lees (lias) aged albariño could almost be confused for Muscadet, with waxed lemon, green apple, and bready lees. The acidity is rounded, with a creamy texture from ageing in stainless steel for over a year on its fine lees. It may not show as much varietal typicity, but it's still an intriguing white wine all the same, showing a different side of albariño. And there's still remarkable freshness here given the 2019 vintage, with almost no tertiary development. Sourced from the subzone of Val do Salnés from the winery's oldest vineyards.Tasted: 03 November 2024Tasted by: Prices:
Rías Baixas, Galicia, SpainWhile albariño is commonly best enjoyed within 2-3 years, this example proves otherwise. At five years of age, this Rías Baixas still retains impressive freshness. Notes of yellow apple, Bartlett pear, and orange blossom are complemented by Mediterranean herbs and layers of subtle petrol, savoury lees, and a hint of nuttiness. The vibrant, zesty acidity, a hallmark of the grape, tightens the palate, while a subtle bitter finish adds textural depth.Tasted: 03 November 2024Tasted by: Prices:
