Cawston, Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaYear two of Dourado, a wine Orofino describes as a reserve tier, Bordeaux style red, opens with an enticing nose of sweet oak, light smoke, and savoury red fruits. It is a 50/25/15/10 blend of merlot, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, and petit verdot from several vineyard sites on the Cawston Bench. Just a hint of smoke. This is a robust red with that wild Similkameen black fruit and exotic spice expertly assembled from a serious selection of the winery’s best red wine barrels. There is no rush to drink this wine. Be patient and check on it every two or three years through 2030.
