Famiglia Zingarelli Tenuta Fizzano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione 2020

Tuscany, ItalyThis Gran Selezione is a historic Zingarelli cru that is a collection of grapes from the Il Crocino vineyard composed of four parcels, located in the highest part of the hill facing south/southwest where the land is rich in sand, gravel and calcium. It has the volume you expect for its moniker but remains true to the Chianti Classico style. It is just beginning to blossom with fragrant flowers mixed with mint and earth. On the palate, dark, plummy fruit with black cherries and a touch of walnut all come together to present a richly styled Chianti with a decade of life ahead. The blend is always around 90% sangiovese with varying amounts of colorino, and the vines are now 25 years old. The winemaking is simple with aging in French oak barrels of 25 hectoliters for 18-22 months, while a small portion (10%) matures in new tonneaux for several months, followed by a year of bottle aging.Tasted: 04 November 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
