Navarra and Basque Country, SpainI first tasted this label at the winery back in 1995. It has always been tempranillo, but 2019 seems light years ahead of those early releases. Tempranillo is at its geographical limit for cultivation in the northernmost zone, yet this silky, concentrated, juicy red stands out with its excellent acidity, fruit balance, and plenty of layered cassis and earthy notes on the palate. The tannins are dense and fine grained to fill the finish. Impressive for the price.
