Champagne Gosset 12 Ans de Cave à Minima Rosé NV

Champagne, FranceFounded in Aÿ in 1584 by Pierre Gosset, Champagne Gosset is the oldest wine house in Champagne. For 17 generations Gosset was family owned, but in 1993 it was sold to the Cointreau family from Charente, owners of Frappin Cognac. The distinct Ans de Cave wines are reflective of cognac releases, naming how long the wine has been aged before release. In this case, the base year 2009 was disgorged in winter 2022 with 4.5 g/L after 12 years sur lattes, and of the 7000 bottles produced, not all is disgorged at once. Pouring a glowing peach / salmon hue, this magisterial wine blends 65% chardonnay, 35% pinot noir (8% still wine). Mandarin, white cherry, green apple, perfumed raspberry blossoms, and toast are woven throughout this structural, vinous wine, still holding great tension despite its expansiveness. The lingering saline finish seems to last forever. This is a great, rare example of rosé champagne aging beautifully on lees. Drinking now, and with time ahead.Tasted: 20 November 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
