Champagne Domaine de Bichery Les Meuniers 2019
Côte des Bar, Champagne, FranceYoung couple Hannah and Raphael Piconnet took over his family's property in Neuville-sur-Seine, in the Côte des Bar, in 2015. The fruit all used to go to a Co.Op. They still sell some fruit, but of their own 10 organically farmed plots, they create single vintage brut nature cuvées, with no added SO2. 2019 was the first time they split this plot of PM, planted by Raphael's grandfather, and vinified it on its own. It was native fermented in a mix of 60% barrel / 40% stainless, with full MLF. It went into bottle without fining or filtration, and remained there for 38 months sur lattes, disgorged in March 2023. Perfumed and pretty licorice, strawberry, is supported from underneath with a buzzy grippy limestone that lingers on the finish. Very smart and pure. 769 bottles produced.Tasted: 27 November 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:BC | $200.00 | 750ml | private wine stores |
