Napa Valley, California, United StatesThe behemoth heavyweight bottle gets in the way of this wine that is far more elegant than its packaging. Napa is always rich and dense, but the tannins are glossy and sweet. Transcendent speaks to the much-improved styling of California reds, mixing black cherry and blueberry that spill onto a long palate of blackcurrant compote with muted tannins and a dash of dark chocolate and tobacco. Complex, and as mentioned, thankfully less fat than many.
