Mullineux Syrah 2021

Swartland, Coastal Region, South AfricaThe Mullineux classic Syrah is drawn from 6 vineyards across the 3 Swartland syrah soil types they work with: dry farm, bush vine decomposed granite of Paardeberg, Kasteelberg schist, and Malmesbury iron. Vines are between 25-35 years old. This is 90% whole bunch, native fermented, with up to 7 weeks of skin contact. It spends 11 months in French oak 500L barrels and 9 months in a tank. Wild blackberry, savoury black cherry, and perfumed violets are scented with peppery spice and structured with finely grippy, firm tannins. The 2021 still feels youthful, with energy and time ahead. Properly serious.Tasted: 03 October 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
