Mesta Garnacha 2023

Castilla-La Mancha, SpainThe Mesta was a powerful connection with shepherds in Medieval times, controlling the routes for herding sheep across the country (hence the label). Today's vineyards are still passed over by flocks on their annual migration, a reminder of ancient rights and continuing co-existence with nature. This organic garnacha comes from high altitude vineyards in central Spain's Castilla-La Mancha, and was done entirely in stainless to preserve the fresh fruit. The Mesta project is overseen by knowledgeable MW and winemaker Sam Harrop. Juicy candied strawberry and raspberry is dotted with nutmeg, and lined with sticky, gummy tannins, leading this to a spiced, short, and thankfully moderate 12.5%. A soft, easy, pretty red to crack into now.Tasted: 04 October 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
