Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, Penedès, Catalunya (Catalonia Cataluña), SpainGramona has always been a leader of traditional method sparkling wine in Spain, and was the founder of the collective Alliances per la Terra association in 2015 to unite like-minded biodynamic growers in the area. They were also a founding member of Corpinnat, a movement beyond Cava that puts emphasis on place and time. This blend of Xarel.lo (60%), Macabeo, and Parellada was aged on lees for 39 months, disgorged with 5 g/L dosage (from a solera started in 1910!) in May 2022. For Gramona, known for their long lees aging, this is their most youthful release, a 2018. Bright and brisk, with green apple, crunchy red apple, meringue, all kissed with a sweetened oxidative touch (a reference to that solera mentioned earlier).
