Château de Lamarque 2018
Haut-Médoc, Médoc, Bordeaux, FranceThis blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Petit Verdot comes off vines averaging 40 years, in the Haut-Medoc's gravelled soils. The vineyard has been planted since the 15th century, while the fortified château was built to defend the Médoc against Vikings invading from the Gironde estuary long before. Crushed cherries, dusky plum is laced with gravels and kissed with an alluring ferrous note, all wrapped with long, furry, well integrated tannins. Acidity remains bright, through the humming finish. This 2018, a generous year, is drinking now, especially with a short decant and a duck / sweet potato pie.Tasted: 28 October 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:QC | $38.00 | 750ml | SAQ |
