Tantalus Syrah Furthur Afield Series 2022

Similkameen Valley, British Columbia, CanadaExtreme climate is our new reality. An unforgiving series of very challenging weather events has led to Tantalus' new Further Afield Series and a new line of wines into the portfolio from sourced grapes. This syrah comes from Blind Creek Vineyard in the Similkameen, rooted in stony, broken granite soils. Each batch was native fermented, with varying degrees of whole cluster and length to completion. The wine was then pressed and settled in French oak (10% new) where it rested for 11 months. Ample cracked pepper imbues crushed violets, fragrant cassis, thorns, and scrubby, stony desert herbs streaming along the medium+ palate. Tannins are long and fine, and acidity is buoyant, lifting this through the lingering, peppery finish. A finessed, joyous syrah, drinking beautifully now and with time ahead. Well done.Tasted: 08 September 2024Tasted by: Treve RingPrices:
