Douro Valley, Northern Portugal, PortugalFrom 70-100 year old vines rooted in the schist soils of Vale de Mendiz, this blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, and others was fermented whole clusters with stems in granite lagares, finishing off in French barriques where it rests for 18 months. Pouring a lighter crimson hue, this medium (13%) Charme charms with rockrose and fragrant wild plum over a schistous underlay, framed with long, fine, delicate tannins, and lofted with an easy buoyant acidity.
