Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon Howe Vineyard 2020

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, CanadaLegend has it that Hillside’s founder planted the first Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the Okanagan, in a row that still lies just to the south of the Howe vineyard. This is a classic mid-valley BC cab in structure, tightly strung with a running line of acid from front to back. All the markers are here pitching youthful versions of blackberry jam and black cherries dusted in baking chocolate. There is a sophistication to its leanness and lithe spirit, but with food, this Bordeaux-styled red will be fine, especially at the seven to ten year mark. Howe Vineyard, part of their Single Vineyard program, is reserved for Hillside Wine Club members. The fruit was fermented in a small tank and received an extended skin maceration of 27 days. The wine was drained and pressed directly to new (28%) and used French oak barrels, where it was allowed to mature for 17 months before bottling. It has a modest 13.2% alcohol.Tasted: 06 September 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:
