Garzón Petit Clos Albariño Block 27 2023
Garzon, Maldonado, San José, UruguayAlbariño has been the Garzón flagship since the start, with only minor fine-tuning along the way, namely additional skin contact to better express the soil salinity, given its proximity to the nearby Atlantic Ocean. The Petit Clos results from years of analysis and tasting of separate blocks to drill down to what looks to be the finest block (27) of albariño on the property. In year four, the flavour intensity makes this wine so enjoyable. It still has balance, minerality, and freshness, but the persistence is impressive. White fruits and an attractive leesy mid-palate with the aforementioned long finish are all you need to enjoy this wine. Coastal seafood is the match in Vancouver. Technically, some 60+ percent of the wine was fermented and aged in cement, and the remainder was fermented and aged in large elongated lancero barrels named after the shape of the cigar that Fidel Castro smoked.Tasted: 30 September 2024Tasted by: Anthony GismondiPrices:CDN | $70.00 | 750ml | CDN $70.00 750mL estimated retail not in market |
