Travaglini Gattinara 2019

Gattinara, Piedmont, ItalyThis comes in a distinctive bottle, matching the equally distinctive style of nebbiolo from Gattinara, which is well exemplified here. It’s leaner and more herbal than Langhe expressions, leaning even further into nebbiolo’s savoury character. The 2019 vintage from Travaglini hits all the right notes. There’s a freshness to the red cherry, layered with thyme, oregano, and a ferrous minerality. You could easily mistake this for a Bourgogne Rouge in a blind tasting, with (relatively) soft tannins that makes it unusually accessible now. Fantastic value, try this instead next time you're reaching for a Langhe Nebbiolo.Tasted: 23 March 2025Tasted by: Prices:
